This is a working draft, not legal advice. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must not be relied on as a finished, binding agreement. Fields shown like this are placeholders that still need to be filled in. Have qualified counsel review this — including the governing-law and dispute-resolution sections — before relying on it publicly.

Terms of Service

Draft last updated: August 4, 2026 · Applies to the Gradus web application at [app domain]and related services (the “Service”), operated by [Legal Entity Name](“Gradus”, “we”, “us”).

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. What Gradus is

Gradus is a recruiting workspace for students: application tracking, tasks, documents, networking contacts, a calendar, weekly check-ins, and an AI coach. The Service is currently free during a private beta. (verify — update this section, and add a Fees section, when a paid plan launches.)

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least [16 / 18] years old to use the Service. (verify — match the minimum age chosen in the Privacy Policy.)
  • You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or application materials to a third party.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data, or circumvent the Service's access controls.
  • Upload documents you don't have the right to upload, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Interfere with the Service's operation, probe its security, or use it to send spam or abusive content.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the applications, documents, notes, and other content you add to the Service (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service — for example, to power the AI coach's answers about your own applications and documents (see Section 6).

You're solely responsible for Your Content, including the accuracy of anything you submit to an actual employer.

6. The AI coach

  • The AI coach is powered by Anthropic's Claude API and generates responses based on your profile, applications, documents, and chat messages, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Coach responses are AI-generated and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. They are informational only and are not professional, legal, financial, or career-placement advice, and are not a guarantee of any interview, offer, or outcome.
  • You're responsible for independently verifying anything the coach tells you (deadlines, eligibility, application requirements, etc.) before relying on it.

7. Termination and account deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Edit Profile → Delete account — this is irreversible. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, or discontinue the Service (or features of it) with reasonable notice where practical, particularly during the beta period.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, and we don't guarantee any recruiting outcome. (verify — align this and Section 9 with the liability standards your counsel recommends for your jurisdiction.)

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, [Legal Entity Name] and its team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost opportunities (including recruiting or employment outcomes), arising from your use of the Service. (verify — add a liability cap and any jurisdiction-specific carve-outs your counsel requires.)

10. Changes to the Service or these terms

We may update the Service and these terms from time to time, especially during the beta. We'll post the updated terms here and update the “last updated” date; for material changes we'll provide additional notice where practical.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [state/country], without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. (verify — choose based on where the legal entity is formed and where users are located.)

12. Contact

Questions about these terms: [contact email][Legal Entity Name, mailing address].
